Will solar panels be included in the future homes standard?
Ministers are publishing the Future Homes Standard this autumn and have confirmed today (Friday 6 June) that solar panels will be included, leading to installation on the vast majority of new build homes.
Will the future homes standard increase solar energy use?
The changes outlined today will maximise the use of solar energy through the Future Homes Standard. In 2023, the previous government proposed that new build homes would either need solar panel coverage equivalent to 40% of the building’s floor area or none at all.
How can the government support the installation of solar panels?
The government has several schemes to support the installation of solar panels. This includes the Energy Company Obligation (ECO), and the Warm Homes: Local Grant and the Warm Homes: Social Funding.
Will solar photovoltaic panels be included in newbuild homes?
To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, if she will amend the Future Homes and Buildings Standards to ensure that all newbuild homes include solar photovoltaic panels.
