The ministry’s Energy Mining Planning Unit (UPME) launched the tender earlier this year, calling for proposals for deploying grid-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) technology to help alleviate system constraints and boost reliability of the grid in Barranquilla, in the Department of Atlantico area of northern Colombia.
[pdf] Jointly developed with Shinshin Credit Corporation, this milestone project significantly enhances grid stability and reliability, reinforcing Taiwan's transition to a more resilient energy infrastructure. The facility officially commenced commercial operations in March.
[pdf] The project, considered the world's largest solar-storage project, will install 3.5GW of solar photovoltaic capacity and a 4.5GWh battery storage system. The project has commenced in November 2024.
