The Government of Liberia has signed a landmark contract for the construction of a 4.0 megawatt-peak (MWp) Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Plant coupled with a 9.4 megawatt-hour (MWh) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), signaling a major step toward universal energy access in the country.
[pdf] The Pampas and Cristales projects will collectively add 1,325 MW of generation capacity and 2.2 GWh of battery energy storage, backed by a combined investment exceeding $1.1 billion. Located in northern Chile, both projects will combine solar PV, wind, and co-located battery storage.
[pdf] The ministry’s Energy Mining Planning Unit (UPME) launched the tender earlier this year, calling for proposals for deploying grid-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) technology to help alleviate system constraints and boost reliability of the grid in Barranquilla, in the Department of Atlantico area of northern Colombia.
